Turn your old ISDN mixer into a SIP codec, with this simple add-on, complete with touchscreen. This XLR SIP Codec from In:Quality, connects to your existing internet connection.

We’ll send you a pre-configured device, complete with the correct audio cables to hook up to your existing ISDN kit.  Just confirm exactly which model you have, when ordering.

This upgrade is ideal for anybody who is already using a Glensound GSGC5 or similar ISDN mixer. There’s a strong argument for keeping this old device, instead of connecting your mic and headphones direct to the SIP codec. This is because the microphone pre-amps in the Glensound kit are more suited to less sensitive microphones, such as the Coles 4104 commentators lip mic. They also have inbuilt compression, which prevents the circuit from overloading, when a contributor shouts into the microphone.  You’ll also continue to benefit from multiple headphone sockets with their own level controls.

Incoming audio will appear on your existing headphones, and you’ll speak into your microphone(s), just as you do now for ISDN calls.

Included with this purchase:
XLR SIP Codec ‘Touch’
Power Adaptor
2 x XLR cable, XLR > Jack or XLR > Bantam
12 months sip.audio subscription (click here for renewal rates – bulk discount available)

An ethernet cable is required, to connect the device to your internet router.

FAQs

Which radio stations can I connect with?
Find SIP enabled radio stations on our SIP Studio Map. An easy way for radio stations to call SIP codecs is to dial the SIP address from the dial pad in ipDTL.  Any station with a Comrex IP codec or similar, can receive SIP calls, once the unit has been configured with a SIP account.
Can I dial ISDN and phone numbers from this device?
Yes, and you can create quick-dial buttons to dial with one touch of the screen. You’ll need to upgrade your sip.audio subscription to allow ISDN and phone calls.
Can I receive inbound ISDN and phone calls?
There is a way to receive an ISDN call via a pre-configured quick-dial button.  ISDN numbers are assigned dynamically on demand, or you can get your own LA area ISDN number with your sip.audio subscription.  A package including a Tel subscription is required for inbound ISDN and phone calls.
Can I control the device without using the touchscreen?
Yes.  You can access it through its IP address from a nearby computer.
Can I connect the XLR SIP Codec to the internet using wifi?
Wi-Fi or mobile broadband are the most common causes of radio interviews dropping off. To ensure reliability, our SIP Codecs connect to your broadband router using a physical cable.  Most wifi routers have ethernet sockets on the back.  You can use an extra long ethernet cable, or ‘Powerline’ adaptors where cable routing is not an option. If you still want to use wifi, please get in touch to discuss viability.
