The Despatch Box from In:Quality connects to your existing internet connection and allows radio stations to call you in full studio quality. The ‘Zero’ version is shipped pre-configured with your own unique sip.audio address, so you only need to plug it in, and wait for a call.

For best results, choose a microphone with built-in headphone socket, volume control and privacy switch, such as the ATR2100-USB, Q2U or Yeti. If privacy is not a concern, consider the NT-USB.
- Can I make outbound SIP or ISDN calls?
As the name suggests, the Despatch Box ‘Zero’ is designed to be ‘zero configuration’. It arrives pre-configured, and the user simply switches the microphone on and off. Consider a Despatch Box with touchscreen for greater flexibility.
It is possible though to access it through its IP address from a nearby computer, or attach a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Outbound calls can be established using these methods. An additional Tel+ subscription is required for outbound ISDN calls.
We can add shortcuts for your regular stations, or you can add these on demand, or enter the address manually. In addition to a sip.audio account, the Despatch Box can be configured with a secondary SIP account such as BBC BASS, should a broadcaster wish to provide you with one.
- Can I receive inbound ISDN calls?
There is a way to receive an ISDN call when accessing the Despatch Box’s configuration page via the methods mentioned above. ISDN numbers are assigned dynamically on demand, and are therefore not available in advance. So, while this is possible, we only recommend this to users who understand and can work around these limitations. An additional Tel subscription is required for inbound ISDN calls.
- Can I connect the Despatch Box to the internet using wifi?
No. Wi-Fi or mobile broadband are the most common causes of radio interviews dropping off. To ensure reliability and confidence in the platform, we make no apology for insisting that our Despatch Box is connected to your broadband hub using a physical cable. Almost all home hubs have ethernet sockets on the back. We can supply extra long cables, or ‘Powerline’ adaptors where cable routing is not an option.
